And they're off...

Don’t forget your long-tail search terms

Search terms that contain 3 or more words, often called “long-tail” search phrases, are quickly becoming the norm when people are searching for information about whatever they’re looking for. What’s more, they offer a nice opportunity to rank quickly in an otherwise highly-competitive keyword “battle.”

Free business book summaries save time

Actionable Books offers one part crib notes, one part interview “library” with popular business authors, and one part book store. I thought this was a brilliant idea and a wonderful example of offering more value to a niche than is currently being offered by the “big boys” (aka Amazon). They offer a large selection of book summaries and video interviews for free.

10 blog post ideas that are so quick and easy you could finish them on a bar napkin

Are you afraid to look at the date of your most recent blog post? Was it written within the last week? The last year? The last presidency? We all know how important blogging is. It’s the best way to grow an online audience. But blogging is one of the easiest tasks to put off, ignore, or neglect. Not because it is difficult, but because if feels difficult.

Here are 10 blog post ideas that are so quick and easy you could finish them on a bar napkin during a commercial break.

Create never-ending content ideas with “mind-mapping”

If you are like any content marketer or writer I have met, you may have been challenged to consistently come up with new ideas. And, even when the ideas are flowing, how do you keep them organized — either by piece of content or by project? Both of these problems can take a huge amount of time and leave you spinning your wheels.

Mind mapping is a way to visually diagram your ideas around a topic or theme. The ways that you can use mind maps are endless, but here are some examples specific to content marketing.

20 Revealing carts & graphs every marketer should know

Awesomely easy read from HubSpot. I would encourage you to take a 5 minute gander at the charts alone, as you will walk away with more focus on how people are actually using the web, and maybe with some ideas on how you can inject some of these ideas into your marketing efforts.

55 Brands rocking social media with visual content

This is a two-fer. First, HubSpot has put together a nice compellation highlighting the importance of design (a topic we can get behind) in social media. But secondly, and what grabbed our attention, was the tool they used to build it on….

Give your customers the best online reading experience…free!

Second, this e-book tool and distribution service looks to be a nice alternative to your standard PDF. There is both a free and pro (ad free) level, both allowing you to produce e-books with pages that turn like a book. It also acts as a nice content distribution network, using a familiar looking “bookshelf” motif. Definitely worth a look.
